I have not read the book. This is a review on the font size, which is so small it is difficult for me to read. I've made this mistake once before and I'm frustrated that I've made it again.En Route is a book in the public domain. Anyone is free to publish it, in whatever layout and font size. If the listed publisher is Createspace or another independent or self-publishing company, be aware. If your eyesight is mediocre or you don't like reading fine print, you should compare books printed by non-traditional publishers. Check the page length of the book. Fewer pages generally means a smaller font size. If you don't like small font size, spend the extra money and buy the "longer" book.
I don't fault the publisher. Fewer pages means the book is less expensive to produce and perhaps cheaper for the customer. The page count can be lowered by reducing the font size, but sometimes it gets ridiculous. Buyer Beware! In this case, the content is there. The book construction is good. You'll just be taking a 219 page eye test.

En Route represents the second novel in Huysman’s great and strange “Durtal” trilogy. As M. Durtal finds himself seduced by the aesthetic properties of Catholicism, the reader is invited into the obscure terrain of mysticism. While this novel is often difficult to engage, readers familiar with Huysmans’s overarching project will be fascinated.
The continuance of the conversion of Durtal as begun in the richly descriptive La-Bas (Down There), as he wanders from church to church in Paris trying to obtain some sort of divine encounter particular to how he sees fit for such a discriminating individual as himself. Eventually, he is pointed to a Trappist monastery where he finally finds the mystical vision he seeks. This sequel falls flat in almost every conceivable manner even though Huysmans maintains his propensity for observance of the virtually eternal theological details of the prayers, offices, and Masses of the Church. Best read, and probably would have been much better written, as a diary of the conversion-story of the author which in real life was as interesting and as compelling as it gets. Disappointing as a novel
To someone raised in the Catholic faith, this book is familiar territory. To those not familiar with stories of mytical experiences and presence of evil in the world, the book may be enlightening.
Boring book and I'm a Catholic. I finished the book.. I enjoyed, at first , Huysmans' giving voice to frustrations with different styles of worship, even voices of the cantors, at different Catholic churches as he bounced from one to the other. However, in his personal search for acceptance of God, his self-tortured introspection was too drawn out and annoying. I did enjoy gaining insight into the cloistered life of monks. Non-Catholics wouldn't have the patience for this book at all.
Not much of a mystic myself, but this does seem to be a very good literary treatment of the Catholic branch of it.
The culminating visit to the monastery library was particularly enjoyable.
The more carnally inclined will find this book rather dry, though-even the bit where M. Durtal is assaulted by a succubus.
