I have been a fan of Frank Lauria, and the Owen Orient books, for many years. This is the latest in the series, after a long hiatus, but the writing seems different. My book had lots of typos, so not edited well. The story was not really gripping, and I was surprisingly bored thru some of it. While I loved the earlier books (Dr Orient, Lady Sativa, Baron Orgaz, etc) this one felt dated and written with no real passion for the subject. While I might buy another book if the writer continues the series, I was disappointed in this entry.Product details

Frank Lauria masterfully animates the ordinary world of physical objects and events and, together with memorable characters who draw us in, convincingly take us across an uncharted boundary into the occult and psychic worlds we know are there but that can only be experienced through a powerful work of the imagination. Demon Pope is delivered in Lauria’s trademark style of a “movie-in-your-mind” thrill ride. Get on board!
Apparently one of the characters is loosely based on me and some of my North Beach friends.
Exciting page turner with wonderful characters. Would make a great film!
I was hoping for a traditional format paperback. I do realize it may have been unavailable.
This was a wonderful read a page turner with many twists and turns. From the Jungle to New York City. Mr. Lauria creates many interesting characters and lots of spiritual and occult occurrences with a little love along the trail. A great and fun read that makes you believe in, or at least question in a higher power, but not the one you think!
